More About Colleen

A Piece of My Story

Since I was a young girl, I always loved people and had a strong curiosity in the stories and experiences of others. My lifelong focus was always about helping others and I have been a “do-gooder” all my life. My parents instilled a strong work ethic in my siblings and I for which I am very grateful. This was not only about working hard at supporting ourselves, but also not giving up on our dreams. I believe everyone should pay attention to what gives them energy and follow it. Guiding others through positive behavior change is what energizes me the most, because I believe we all deserve to thrive.


I am a graduate from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Athletic Training/ Sports Medicine and Health Education. I became NATA (National Athletic Trainers Association) certified and worked as a Certified Athletic Trainer and Health Educator for approximately 6 years before returning to graduate school. I have an M.A. in Community Counseling from Appalachian State University. It was at this time I started working clinically with all age groups and populations and started working in higher education.


I am a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) through the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) as well as a Certified Health and Well-Being Coach (CHWC) through the WellCoaches School of Coaching. I have taught and practiced health behavior change and theory for over 25 years.


As a Public Health educator, I have a deep understanding how environment impacts not only our health choices, but also our health outcomes. There are clear and valid reasons why only 20% of the adult population is thriving. I have been engaging in health coaching for over 25 years in many capacities. Through ReConnect, I strive to help others make healthy lifestyle choices and feel satisfied with the life they create and live. The journey of lifestyle change with a trained and certified Health and Well-being Coach can be powerful.


My coaching philosophy is built on connection. The first connection is with yourself. My strategies are evidence based and individualized, based on your needs and what is most important to you.
